Description: The purpose of this memorandum is to provide an update on the Montgomery County Public Schools' (MCPS) 2008-2009 ineligibility for extracurricular activities data in middle and high schools. MCPS is committed to reducing student ineligibility rates. Student ineligibility data now are being examined, monitored, and discussed by a newly formed ineligibility M-Stat team. In 2008-2009, about 6.6 percent of middle school students and 13.0 percent of high school students were ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities for at least three of the four marking periods (chronically ineligible). However, there was a decrease in the ineligibility rate from the previous school year in middle and high schools for all students, as well as for all subgroups.
